STYLE GURU STYLE: Denim Daze

Can you ever wear too much denim? While many may say, “Yes, you can wear too much denim,” Anna Sui seems to think differently. The Anna Sui spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection features models clad in denim from head to toe, and I am all for it. Sui was inspired by the psychedelic fashions of the ’60s hippie movement and these elements can be seen in the details of the collection.

While Sui’s pieces seem to jump right out of a picture from Woodstock, I chose to style a more subdued look. I have acquired quite the collection of denim pieces over the years but never had the guts to wear them together. On this day, I began with a rad denim skirt. The denim skirt has fallen out of popularity in past years but has made quite the comeback this season. This style is a modern take on the denim skirt and matches just about anything. To break up the deluge of denim, I wore a simple black crop top. I wasn’t emotionally ready to wear all-denim, and this piece was the perfect top to pair with this look. On top, I wore a sweet vintage denim jacket that I copped from a thrift shop in the East Village. It is perfectly oversized and gives my look just the right amount of masculinity. I recently got my first pair of high quality sunglasses and they never leave my face. Sunglasses are the perfect accessory for the busy college student because, let’s be honest, we don’t always have time to apply makeup in the morning.

Get My Look: 1. A denim skirt. 2. Simple black crop top. 3. An oversized denim jacket.
