The winter season can limit us when we try to incorporate runway trends into our everyday outfits. Luckily, there are tons of cozy options available that are appropriate for the cold weather.
I was impressed by the looks featured in the alice + olivia pre-fall 2016 collection. Every outfit had a vintage and feminine vibe to it. As much as I would love to find a floral embroidered denim skirt like the one in the first look, my college lifestyle calls for a more simple version of it. I added the denim component to my outfit with a button-down skirt from H&M. The skirt is A-line and accentuates my waist. I am not fully comfortable with turtlenecks so I went with a mock turtleneck instead. Burgundy is the perfect fall color and looks pleasant with lighter shades. The sweater material is very thin, so it was easy to tuck into my skirt without looking bulky.
Thigh-high boots are a bold choice that can elevate any outfit. Leather is an easy way to make an outfit refined and polished. I have a sleek silhouette look so I decided to go with a nice long, form fitting coat. Tan was the best choice for this outfit since it stands out more than black would have. When I am out and about on the weekends, I like to go for more unique accessory choices. I will always wear a beanie and call it day when I have classes. My thrifted wide-brim hat is a perfect replacement and adds another focal point.
