Denim will always be a staple in every Fashionista/o’s closet. However, today, denim is not just a fabric that is meant for a nice pair of jeans or a structured jean jacket. Influential designers, such as Chloé, are using the fabric to create fabulous denim dresses, denim blouses, and even denim mules.
Taking inspiration from the Chloé spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection, I gave the trendy denim dress look a try. In my look, I also went with a more men’s-inspired cut and style as seen in some of Chloé’s other pieces in the collection. Even though this collection plays up its casualness with some flirty colors and alluring ruffles, I decided to keep my look a bit more structured to commit to the men-inspired look.
Trends and styles change and adapt to fit people’s needs and desires, and using the inspiration from Chloé’s spring collection, I was able to do just that. The button-up shirt dress by itself was plain, dull, and a little scandalous because of length on the sides of the dress. In an attempt to fix this, I decided to pair the dress with some neutral grey over-the-knee boots to keep my legs warm, while also giving the illusion that the dress is longer. I also added a black felt brim hat, which gave the look a fun and flirty vibe. Lastly, I added a feminine white statement necklace to give it a girly touch.
Get My Look: 1. A button-up shirt dress. 2. Some over-the-knee boots. 3. A fun brim hat/fedora. 4. Statement necklace.
