Hello, hello, hello! Thanks for stopping by to catch up on more of my favorite looks for “Summer Sixteen” as my future husband Drake has declared it. For this post I decided to take one of the hottest runway trends for this season and translate it into my own personal style. Visions of desert goddesses are still dancing in my head as I think about the amazing collection Stacey Bendet, designer of Alice + Olivia, has put together for her spring 2016 ready-to-wear show.
Where do I begin? I’m obsessed with each and every piece she has designed, from the black-and-white striped power suit to the white mini dress adorned with gold embellishments. Pops of color, an unexpected mix of patterns, flowing fabrics and fabulous knee-high gladiator heels made for a show-stopping presentation. One aspect of her line that I fell in love with was the abundance of bright orange textiles blended with Western-style, embroidered flowers and patterns. Stacey Bendet somehow has the secret to making each look better and more visually appealing than the last making me want to convey her collection in my own unique way. Taking one of my favorite looks featuring a pop art-like mini dress with a matching kimono, I was inspired to dress these pieces down to be able to wear on an everyday basis.
Orange has always been a color I’ve steered away from but this runway show has changed my mind to once again take a risk and try my hand at the bold hue. This orange racerback tank makes for a perfect top to keep you cool and breezy during even the most humid weather. To tone down the once feared color of mine, I paired the tank with a pair of simple white shorts so as not to distract from the best part of the outfit: the kimono! Adding this sheer piece is a great way to amp up your outfit without having to sweat it out in heavy layers. The feather printed kimono ties in the desert vibes similar to the ones in the Alice + Olivia spring collection.
Nothing says fierce like a pair of strappy gladiator sandals, especially the gold ones the models got to rock. If I could have anything from this runway show I would definitely try to snag a pair of those babies but for now my black ones will have to do! I didn’t want to take away from this standout look so I finished it off by layering three silver necklaces, some sparkly earrings and a headband that’s sure to turn heads. Finally, I’m almost positive a desert goddess doesn’t leave her house without a little luck to help her battle her day, like my Pandora four-leaf clover bracelet. From the runway to the fields of Coachella, this western look is one that anybody can effortlessly pull off that will create cool vibes all summer long!
