STYLE GURU STYLE: Effortlessly Chic

While spending the last month in London, I continued to see a certain trend: culottes. When this trend first came to the streets, I didn’t know how I felt about it; they reminded me of gauchos from the early 2000s. Now I love them, and I’m even more obsessed after seeing them in Europe. Another thing I noticed was their effortless style.

Taking inspiration from the Tibi spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection, I combined my culottes with a deep v-neck bodysuit for a sleek, put together yet age-appropriate look. I also stuck to the relatively neutral tones used in the collection. I was inspired by the London street style I engulfed myself in for the past month. European women always look effortlessly chic. They put together simple pieces so perfectly that they look effortless and composed at the same time. There was something so beautiful and intriguing about the simplicity in their day-to-day looks. A key piece used to make this look this summer were culottes.

I used simple and neutral pieces help achieve an effortless look. The clean lines of the garments also help translate this. Not only that, but the minimal jewelry adds the perfect amount of detail to the look without being too over the top.

My outfit includes a black deep v-neck bodysuit with structured camel culottes from New Look worn over it. To add to the look, I wore my black leather and gold Skagen watch and a dainty, layered choker with a small tassel detail. As for shoes, I wore my go-to loafers that I got for $3 (I have to tell everyone how much I paid for those shoes) at Old Navy. These shoes have a pointed toe and block heel that create a chic look, but they are also very comfortable at the same time. Not only does the look have to appear effortless, it must be comfortable as well because Londoners walk everywhere. I also kept the makeup to a minimum to tie together the effortless look I was going for.

Get My Look: 1. Bodysuit. 2. Any structured culottes. 3. Dainty layered necklace.
