No matter the season, pattern and print play a huge part in my personal style choices. It’s difficult for me to walk into a store and choose something that’s a neutral color when a bold print is an option! When I saw Dolce&Gabbana’s spring 2016 line, I was delighted by the huge splash of color and excitement that were translated on the runway. Highly embellished sunglasses, groovy printed scarves and over-the-top cell phone cases accompanied the couture looks that were inspired by the most popular and well-loved attractions in Italy.
I was especially inspired by look 57, which features a bold red stripe that is echoed in all of the accessories that the model wears. To interpret this, I chose a long-sleeved shirt that has varying sizes of red and navy stripes. The variation of stripes adds just a bit of interest, and paired with classic dark washed jeans, the look is absolutely appropriate for running between class, work, and other errands or activities.
Because fun accessories were such an important part of the Dolce&Gabbana line, I selected my favorite pair of red satin shoes. I can’t help but reach for these rain or shine even with their slight heel and delicate fabric. They add such a fun pop of color and sophistication to any look, whether it’s casual or dressy. The red color was perfect for staying in line with the look I was inspired by, and as an added bonus I was able to coordinate the shade with my lipstick!
Many of the looks on the runway featured insanely decked out sunglasses, which I absolutely adored. Whenever I want to add more interest and zest to a look, I reach for my bright green tortoise-shell glasses. If you’ve got to wear them in order to see, they may as well be exciting! The green color contrasts sharply against the rest of the red throughout the look, and gives the same funky mix-and-match vibe that is seen throughout the Dolce&Gabbana line.
