STYLE GURU STYLE: Etched In Marble

If a pared down aesthetic tickles your fancy, then you would be particularly enamored with Christopher Raeburn’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection. The line consists of pieces seemingly inspired by Balmain and Alexander Wang with touches of cord piping and an undeniable sporty-chic vibe, respectively. The line is definitely not for the faint of heart. It appeals to the tough girl inside us all. However, I find the marble prints to be the most dazzling facet of the collection. The naturally occurring print was executed beautifully on light, silky fabrics. Case in point, Raeburn said he used authentic parachute silk when designing his collection. Needless to say, I was blown away by the marble motif and was ready to get gone with the wind fabulous, too.

After getting hopelessly inspired by Christopher Raeburn’s collection, I decided to take the marble print trend for a test drive. When translating runway trends into everyday looks, it is important that you feel comfortable. So, rather than pairing a marble-print dress with a marble-print coat as was done on the runway, I found an understated silk jersey shirt to rock. I paired the Elie Tahari blouse with my favorite pair of J Brand jeans and I instantly felt chic. To make the trend my own, I slid on ankle boots and wore my blue cross-body bag for a pop of color. Finally, I layered on gold necklaces and topped it all off with a gold watch.  Even though I am wearing plenty of on-trend pieces, my original styling allows my personality to shine through, which is a must for every Fashionista/o!

Get My Look: 1. A marble tunic. 2. A pair of blue jeans. 3. Neutral booties.
