As the skirt hems get longer, it seems like the tops are following suit. Let’s take a look at the Rosie Assoulin fall 2015 ready-to-wear show. Throughout the collection, we see these exaggerated top lengths paired over pants popping up. There is even this amazing green dress with buttons all the way down the front paired over some trousers to take the look to the absolute extreme. I think this styling trick is the perfect answer to pulling off an effortless layered look.
I decided to try out this creative style so I jumped in head first by pairing a dress, not just a longer top, over my jeans. My dress is white with black buttons down the front. It has a playful, uneven hem and a flowy silhouette. I layered it over my Madewell skinny leg jeans and rolled the jeans up a bit because why not? Over the dress, since it is sleeveless and not quite spring weather yet, I threw on my black leather jacket. On my feet, I have these tan stacked heel booties with cutouts on the heel.
I really really love this outfit so much that I think this might become my new uniform for this month. Mainly because it makes me feel like a cross between Leandra Medine of The Man Repeller and my six year-old self. Yes, I repeat my six year-old self. This is probably because of these two-piece cotton dress and pant sets that I used to wear all the time when I was little. I promise you though; this style is a lot more chic than those!
Get My Look: 1. A dress that was made for layering. 2. Some classy blue skinny jeans. 3. Last, but definitely not least, a sleek black leather jacket.
