Floral prints have always been a staple pattern in my wardrobe. Although it is a relatively feminine pattern, it can highly versatile, depending on what you wear it with. My go-to floral pieces in my closet are my floral print Doc Martens, sundresses or the festival-ready flower crowns. This season, I’ve challenged myself by incorporating florals in a more creative way. I drew inspiration from the Chanel spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection, which features bold florals, juxtaposed with bold geometric patterns and colorful tweed to complete the look.
To embody Chanel’s garden-ready spring 2015 collection, I paired a few of my favorite wardrobe pieces all into one ensemble, which made for a lot more colors and patterns than I was used to! The focal point of this outfit is the floral peplum skirt, featuring a bold and bright floral pattern, which is reminiscent of the prints spotted on the runway. Although peplums first made their debut a few years ago, they are still my go-to for adding flair and form to my outfits.
With the skirt, I paired a navy blue, peter-pan collar tank that is very much business in the front and party in the back! The back of the tank has a geometric, navy blue and turquoise pattern, which mirrors the floral and bold geometric patterns fashioned by Chanel this season. With this ensemble, I also tried to incorporate one of this season’s hottest colors, navy blue. Similarly to black, it is a highly versatile neutral that can complement a variety of colors.
Completing the look with some of my favorite accessories, I wore my white and gold flower earrings to accentuate the flowers in my skirt. Per usual, I’m rocking my gold Marc Jacobs watch, which also reflects the gold in my earrings. To complete the look, I’m wearing one of my favorite pairs of shoes. These pale pink pumps can be paired with many different color palettes. Similarly to nude-colored heels, they can also be worn to make your legs look longer!
