Diane von Furstenberg’s fall 2016 runway show was filled with bright-colored clothing and dark-colored furs. Although her shows are always my favorite, this one really caught my eye. The way she paired the dark furs with bright geometrics and patterns created the perfect compromise between feminine and funky.
Inspired by her beautiful show, I decided to get my own faux fur jacket. At first, I had trouble finding things to pair it with. The jacket seemed so extravagant to me. Being a college student, much of my clothes are more casual. So, I went shopping to find some standout clothes like the ones in Diane’s show.
Halfway through my shopping trip, I realized that it would be silly for me to buy lots of dressy clothes when I spend most of my time in class. With this in mind, I decided to recreate the look in a more casual way. Although Diane von Furstenberg’s looks are already extremely wearable as everyday clothing compared to other runway fashion, I still felt that I needed to dress the jacket down a bit.
I decided to pair my faux fur with more grungy clothes to make the look even more wearable. The distressed boyfriend jeans are cute and comfortable and the tie-dye top mimics the bright designs that are featured in Diane’s show.
These faux fur jackets are available every where from designer stores, to Nordstrom and Forever 21. Not only will buying faux fur save you money, it will save the animals as well!
