Can you hear that sound? The jingle jangle of a girl’s Alex and Ani bracelets paired with the clink clack of her black heeled boots as she walks to class with a pumpkin spice latte in her hand. Despite the warmer than usual weather for this time of year, fall is alive and well. Foliage is changing color on the trees, creating a colorful walk to class in the morning. Added to these colors, another color of fall is being seen across campus; blue.
Whether it’s in the form of jeans, jackets or even bags, this has now become the season of denim. Forget diamonds, denim is a girl’s best friend for fall. My classic fall look is usually complete with a long sweater, denim blue jeans and chunky heeled boots. I get my denim inspiration from the BLK DNMÂ spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection. In this runway show, denim is paired with fancier tops to help dress up the look. Jean jackets are also paired with skinny jeans and I often rock the “denim on denim” look during fall, especially if you have a darker skinny jean paired with a lighter jean jacket for contrast. Most of the looks in this collection are paired with black boots or boots of some kind, which is perfect for the cooler fall weather.
I was able to translate this runway trend into my everyday look, playing off of my own creative style as well. I’m really into pastel colors, especially in the fall and this color palette is becoming more popular in looks today. I paired my dark wash skinny jeans with a long sleeve pastel top for color contrast. The light on the dark colors work to complement one another, while still changing up a classic look. My top is a peplum style, and since it’s made of lace, this helps to dress up my casual everyday look, being able to wear this outfit for any class presentation I might have. I also chose light gray boots to add, not straying too far from the color scheme but still adding a little bit of contrast.
None of my outfits are complete without some jewelry; in fact, I feel naked if I forget to wear a necklace or rings. Statement necklaces are becoming more popular and the one I chose paired nicely with my pastel colored top. I love stacking rings as well and a couple different rings on one hand is a subtle jewelry addition that can really make your outfit complete. One of the most exciting things about fall for me are the wardrobe options. Being able to transform a runway style into an everyday fall fashion trend is sweeter than the pumpkin in my pumpkin spice latte.Â
