Bright pops of color? Check. Striking details? Check. Classic femininity? Check. Chanel’s spring/summer 2016 ready-to-wear Collection has your summer wardrobe covered! The vibrancy and attention to detail from Chanel’s most recent line inspired me to go through my closet and create my own interpretation. Combining all of these elements into one outfit? Don’t worry – I’ve got it from there.
The color palette that struck me the most about this collection was the focus of neutrals with emphasis on bright color to create an attention-worthy ensemble. Chanel always plays up on the slightest of details and takes them over the edge for a unique look. For a more street-wear focused look, I decided to create a co-ord look with matching scallop detail.
The white Topshop scallop frill T-shirt gave some breeze to the weight of the Lilly Pulitzer buttercup short and the effortless addition of the GUESS gold tassel necklace dressed it up as more than a T-shirt and shorts. To keep with the theme, I added a classic Gap navy cardigan to keep with the original color scheme of the spring/summer 2016 collection.
My favorite piece in this, which, in my opinion is the focus of the outfit, is the Kate Spade Cape Drive Kieran wallet. The scallop trim and bright pop of pink brought a flirty vibe to the ensemble! I kept the focus on the outfit itself by pairing the white co-ords with a simple pair of Jessica Simpson Malia pumps. The basic nature of the pumps keeps the attention on the overall outfit without causing distraction.
During the runway show, many of the Chanel models wore reflective frames to create an edgy glam look. I decided to incorporate this in my outfit as well and threw on my newest pair of ALDO Hamersley sunglasses. The sunglasses took this look to another level and made it a little more on trend for streetwear, plus they’re super cute!
Chanel will never go out of style – it has been a source of inspiration for the fashion industry for decades and continues to reinvent how we see fashion. I had a blast recreating their collection and making it my own. I really enjoyed experimenting with color and detail, and I hope you guys do as well! Feel free to take your own inspiration from this and make your own variation from what you see! The freedom of expression is the most tasteful fashion choice we can make.
