Even for us Chicagoans, who have been freezing in the Midwestern cold since September, summer is (hopefully) just around the corner. I couldn’t be more excited about all the new trends the warmer weather is going to bring! For that reason, I checked out a few runway shows, to see what high-fashion brands are delivering to us this season. What I found out is that among leather, athleisure and the big influence of the ’90s, pastel shades are also trending! You can really see that throughout the Emporio Armani spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection, especially in the first few looks.
The Emporio Armani show inspired me to put together this look. Instead of a haute couture feeling, I went for a preppy vibe. I started with a light blue sweater, my main pastel color, and then I added white pants with an embroidered detail to balance out the pastel. To complete the look, I used small golden accessories, such as a short necklace and a chain ring. I also added a pair of golden sunglasses with pink lenses: the golden went hand-in-hand with the jewelry, and the pink added another touch of pastel to the look!
In order to properly finish off my ensemble, I wore a pair of nude high-heeled sandals; nude is such a soft color that can work both as a pastel and as a neutral shade. The result? A versatile look for both spring and summer, with light tints that will make you feel like you’re always on vacation!
