alice + olivia designer Stacey Bendet really knows the way to a girl’s heart. The brand’s pre-fall 2015 collection, which was inspired by 1970s designer and Yves Saint Laurent muse Loulou de la Falaise, was a psychedelic dreamboat. Bendet aimed to emulate de la Falaise’s fearless, eccentric style and 1970s glam, and what she produced was nothing short of fabulous. Bell-bottoms, long, swaying silhouettes and funky prints reigned this collection, breathing new life into so many vintage favorites. Floor-length vests and oversized cardigans in bold prints immediately caught my attention, prompting me to take the trends into my own hands.
In Happy Valley’s current cold spell, nothing is more important than layers. Staying warm and trying out trends isn’t always an easy feat, as it is often easier to bury into a thick parka and hibernate until the sun comes back. To try my hand at the trends seen above, I opted for an oversized knit cardigan piled over a few layers to stay warm. The funky, tribal-like pattern of the cardigan reminded me of many of the eccentric prints showcased in the collection. To combat the snowy tundra and add in a modern twist, I paired the look with my favorite pair of sturdy duck boots and threw on a chunky infinity scarf over top. The overall look is casual and comfy, perfect for snuggling up to a big mug of hot chocolate after a long day of classes.
Get My Look: 1. An oversized printed cardigan. 2. Snow-proof duck boots. 3. A chunky knit infinity scarf.
