In Erie, PA snow isn’t just during one season; it usually lasts well into spring too. Growing up here has allowed me to get a good handle on how to dress for chilly winter months, and my number one tip? Layers.
Layering is essential because due to it’s freezing temperatures, you immediately get blasted with the heaters set on high whenever you get inside to wherever you’re headed. Behrend is right on the snow belt outside of Lake Erie, so the amount of snow we get every winter is CRAZY. Layering is a must and owning a lot of coats and winter accessories is so important!
I’m almost too obsessed with moto style jackets. I seriously own a bunch in all different colors and fabrics! Suede is one of the hottest trends right now. This suede jacket from H&M is so comfy and easy to wear over just a T-shirt or to layer up for when the temperature starts to drop. When I’m getting ready for class or work, I usually end up just throwing a graphic tee or sweater and a nice insulated jacket to keep me warm on the trek around campus. I love the thin black stripes on the white flannel shirt because it has the warmth and style of a flannel, but also gives you the option to accessorize with more prints without it being too much (it also keeps you super warm for days you want to wear a lighter jacket on a cold day).
Muted floral is one of my favorite prints, and as soon as I saw this bag by Coach I had to scoop it up. You’ll usually see me carrying it with whatever I’m wearing because it matches any neutral colors and can be carried casually or when you’re trying to dress up. I tend to like the cross-body bags more than any others because they’re so convenient. When the weather isn’t too bad I like to give my boots a break and opt for comfier slip-on shoes, especially when i’m running around all day. These shoes by TOMS are so comfy and they match almost anything; they’re my go-to shoes when I know I’m going to be on my feet a lot that day.
Here’s to a busy semester, and an awesome 2017!
