We all have that favorite pair of jeans that sit and fit just right. Personally, I love a good high-waisted pant. They elongate my legs and highlight the slimmest part of my waist—what more does a girl need? What designers such as Michael Kors and Alexander Wang have done this season is put their own spin on those bell bottoms we used to love, making them oh so lovable again!
Effortless and stylish are two of my daily wardrobe goals. This season, inspiration from Derek Lam 10 Crosby has made my goals that much easier to achieve. There have been some amazing trends seen on the runway this season but I have been drooling over his resort 2016 collection. There was a hint of calm, Japanese influence with the wraps and the silk tops, however the overall vibe had flair and finesse for days! The looks were arguably under-styled into beautiful combinations. From mismatched fabrics and textures to the model’s hair styled in tousled beach waves, this collection really spoke to me. The trend I noticed the most was the different variations of flare out pants. They came in denim and denim-inspired knitwear and were paired with easy summer to fall transition items like lightweight sweaters and linen blouses.
I loved how something so casual could be pulled together so attractively. So I took this idea of charming simplicity for a spin. I came out with platforms, flared jeans and a floppy hat. I had to stay true to my monochromatic obsession but my jewelry added the extra layer of texture and pop of subtle color that I needed. Amazingly, and completely unintentionally, my entire look is from H&M. I don’t know what it is about that darn store, but no matter how much I try or who I promise, I can not simply window shop there. Whether it’s their hard to beat sales or their practical displays, I just can’t get enough.
Get My Look: 1. Basic crop top T-shirt. 2. Denim flares. 3. Straw tote bag.
