Nothing is more exciting than sunshine, blossoming flowers, iced tea and all the good stuff you can think of when you know spring is finally here. This is my favorite season of all because it is the best time of the year to play with clothes. It’s not too hot, not too cold and throw in some pretty flowers and it makes for the perfect season.
I love flowers but I don’t wear floral patterned apparel often as I’ve become more of a minimalist staying with neutral palettes. This is why I have fallen in love with Carven’s ready-to-wear spring 2016 collection. Carven’s creative directors, Alexis Martial and Adrien Caillaudaud, have only worked together for about a year but every piece in this collection is amazingly put together with a feminine look and a slight menswear-inspired touch. This collection looks sleek and simple with neutral colors but with intricate details. It combines the clean look with a sufficient amount of spring floral patterns on different pieces. As someone whose closet is full of plain colors, I love this collection. It perfectly balances complex patterns and simplicity.
My Carven-inspired look combines different pieces from the spring collection. I chose my new BDG flare cropped jeans with a white button-up to showcase a sophisticated, feminine look. With an oversized boyfriend blazer, it gives me look a masculine touch, which is what this collection is all about. In order to complete this outfit, I paired it with one of my favorite items, BCBG suede boots. The boots add a dramatic feel to this look by elongating my legs and providing a nice silhouette for the entire outfit. I love this look for early spring when it’s warm in the day and chilly at night. It’s a great combination for a day in the city with friends or just simply sitting outside blogging and sipping on a peach ice tea.
