Hello fashion queens/kings! It has come to that point in the second semester where no one is quite sure what to wear due to the unforeseeable weather. New York Fashion Week introduced countless new looks for spring 2016. I came across styles that were expected, but surprisingly unexpected, as well. I love the new trends and designs. This spring, you can incorporate bare shoulders, wide cropped pants, sequins, down to earth tones, fringe and bohemian touches. You can never go wrong with checking out runway collections and mixing their styles into your ensembles. This month, I put together the ideal outfit to share with all of you.
When I stumbled upon Rachel Zoe’s spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection, I was immediately inspired by her gypsetter, yet luxe vibes. I chose to creatively integrate tassels, flares and fringe into my street style look. Zoe’s clothing has that alluring and floating quality, which I adore. I tried to stick to the same color palette she used, which consisted of earthly neutrals, burnt orange, olive greens, whites and blacks. The majority of the pieces in this collection are longer dresses, but I put my own twist on her traditional collection and made my outfit more suitable to my college lifestyle.
With that inspiration in mind, I paired my corduroy black mini skirt with a soft, bell sleeve crop top. Overall, I’d say this Kendall & Kylie piece depicts Rachel’s collection admirably. The tassel and the flare in the sleeves, combined with the soft colors, make it work. When it came to accessories, I couldn’t help but pull out my leather fringe bag. I love integrating multiple textures into my look to stretch the complexity. To complete my outfit, I wore my favorite pair of Free People sandals. In each ensemble featured in Zoe’s spring collection, the model is wearing simple flat sandals. This brings just the right amount of casual and flirtiness to any Fashionista’s outfit. As for the glamorous circle sunglasses—that was just a sprinkling of my personal taste.
What’s great about this style is that all of these individual pieces can be swapped out, depending on the situation. I know spring weather can be unpredictable, so it’s imperative that you have some substitutes. If it’s chillier outside, change the sandals for neutral over-the-knee boots, or the skirt for high-waisted jeans. If you’re going out on the weekend, try a slight wedge instead of the sandals and maybe some statement jewelry. Either way, all of these pieces come together to create unconventional, free-spirited outfits. I believe each of you should these hanging in your closet sooner rather than later for this spring.
