I like to have my summer closet embrace colorful fashion and represent optimism. There’s no better way to do so than wearing florals. I found my inspiration when admiring recent runway shows, specifically one by Stella McCartney. Stella McCartney’s resort 2016 collection delivered a beautiful show of solids embellished with a garden of florals highlighted with lace. I adored how Stella McCartney played with this summer optimism I strive for. As a result, I translated this runway trend into my own look on a college student budget.
The focus of my outfit is of course, the floral shorts. The tiny flowers stand out against the solid navy blue, similar to how Stella McCartney has floral prints standing bold against the solid blues, blacks, whites and more. The loose movement of the shorts gives an overall breezy beach look, yet again similar to Stella McCartney’s summery magic atmosphere. Not only are these comfy shorts perfect for a sunset relax session at the beach, but I love the fact that these shorts are high-waisted. High-waisted shorts are great because they can be paired with almost any type of top and still give a chic edge.
With that being said, I chose to wear a simple white shirt with a subtle lace design down the center. The simplicity was chosen in order to highlight the trend of solids and florals that McCartney uses. Lace goes along perfectly with whimsical flowy shorts as Stella McCartney accented with in her details. In addition, I felt that pairing the outfit with Keds-inspired sneakers added a comfortable and unique aspect. To accessorize, I stuck with my go-to shiny silver Tiffany earnings to add summer shine.
