I was scrolling through Paule Ka’s spring 2015 collection when I was inspired by the flirty overall feel that the line achieved. The entire collection is composed of white, black and citron yellow. There are a few long silhouettes in the collection, but what really caught my attention were the above-knee hemlines. A black dress is the classic summer staple, but give that dress a playful hemline and I’m all for it.
In my own look, I went with the flirty hemline in a classic T-shirt flare dress. Look 13 and 15 in his collection really caught my attention. I tried to play somewhere in the middle of the two pieces when creating the look I was going for. I wanted the accentuation of curves, which would complement the hemline, but I also wanted the dress to flare out a bit.
I went with something a little more sassy when choosing my shoes. The buckle details give the overall look a little bit of edge. Although I’ve worn these shoes all through the winter, I brought them out for this summer look because I like the contrast of covering up my feet while exposing my pale “summer” skin.
For my lips I choose the shade called Lana by NARS, which is a vivid orange-red. The pop of color gives the all black look a little update. I added a mixture of rings for that last little flirty detail.
