I’m a firm believer in that when you find something that flatters you, you should buy it in every print or color. Hence why I have dresses with short sleeves and loose skirts in almost every combo you can imagine.
Completely awestruck by some of the looks in the Valentino resort 2017 collection which pair fun, flirty florals with timeless leather bags, I was inspired to do the same. Several of the florals used in the collection were dark, which caught my eye since I enjoy the juxtaposition of a dark, alluring background and a bright, happy floral print. Each look had a very classic styling, which I admired as it was a sort of homage to vintage looks of similar taste.
Being a lover of all things vintage but also all things current and trendy, I often aim to incorporate both into my outfits. To do this, I usually stick to more timeless patterns like the lovely floral seen in Valentino’s collection. Throwing in fun, trendy accessories is a good way to add new life to classic pieces without breaking the bank.
For this look, I wore a Forever 21 dress with cross-back detailing, along with trendy midi rings. To add my signature vintage flair, I wore my go-to black suede oxfords. Along with oxfords, I have several vintage bags I use in my wardrobe constantly. The one I’m wearing here is actually a vintage binoculars case I found at a local thrift store. What a steal!
If you ask me, you can never go wrong with floral anything. Make it yours or get some tips from a runway show like I did. No matter what, always have fun with it!
