“Florals, for spring? Groundbreaking.” We all know the iconic quote by Miranda Priestly (c/o Meryl Streep) in the truly iconic movie The Devil Wears Prada. And as cliché as it may seem, florals are still a favorite of mine. I think that great colors in an equally fantastic floral print are a great statement. So, before we roll into fall and all the fantastic fashion that comes with it, I wanted to take some inspiration from the alice + olivia spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection which features bright colors, bold prints and ankle strap heels that I immediately fell in love with. If this collection should teach us one thing, it’s not to be afraid of mixing patterns. I love the way stripes and florals are paired together in several outfits. The key seems to be choosing fairly simple patterns that can then go well together as well as keeping a cohesive color scheme.
In my look, I like to think I went just a tiny bit daring by pairing a vibrant floral print dress with the splatter gold glitter pattern of my box clutch. Pulling in the gold of the clutch with a simple cuff bracelet adds some more shimmer to the outfit. These cork heels are my obsession (no matter how uncomfortable they are) so I’ll take any excuse to wear them. It seemed like such a fun summer dress deserved equally fun heels. I kept the rest of the look simple, only adding a pair of round framed tortoise shell sunglasses. And, just in case it gets a little chilly, I brought along a jean jacket to throw on over the dress.
