I know what you’re all thinking; You’re seriously going to write on how floral patterns are on-trend for this spring? However, this trend is more than throwing on a floral sundress and calling it a day. Mixing harder elements with the softer look of flowers is what this trend is all about.
While my style can be described as classic and preppy, I do like to try and take steps out of my comfort zone when it comes to trying new trends. In his 2016 ready-to-wear spring collection, Alexander McQueen married feminine flowers with hard ripped denim to make a statement outfit that still looks effortless. My inspiration for my outfit comes from the contrast of hard and soft elements.
In order to recreate this look with my own twist, I pulled my floral blazer and favorite ripped jeans from my closet to encompass the key components of McQueen’s look. The structure of the blazer keeps the look from looking too segmented, but the pattern still give it a “girly” vibe. Accessorizing this outfit really gave me the chance to make it my own with my grandfather’s dog tags and black Vans.
There is a lot going on in my outfit, from the straw clutch to the oversized black sunglasses, but I truly am giving my onlookers something to talk about. When it comes to dressing out of your comfort zone, it is important to always be confident!
