Things I love: florals and midi dresses. Thing I love even more: how both florals and midi dresses are totally on trend for resort 2017 wear! For the past year or so we’ve seen hemlines creeping lower and lower for skirts and dresses, and the midi craze doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. So many designers featured midi-length pieces in their resort 2017 collections, but I chose to focus on Rachel Zoe’s collection in particular because I love her feminine, breezy vibe.
One of the biggest trends of resort 2017 is “folkloric flair,” a subtle nod toward funky, vibrant traditional dress. Or, in other words, a gypsy-meets-Greek-goddess type of look. This ties in perfectly with the inspiration behind Rachel Zoe’s collection, which was actually Greek gods and goddesses: the gods of the earth and the gods of the sky.
I wanted to emulate this boho-chic vibe to the fullest, but add in my own personal touches. I love the intricate detailing on this Free People dress, from the open back, to the pockets to the lace up bodice, so I wanted to keep the rest of my look fairly simple so I could let the dress shines. I paired the dress with gladiator sandals in a vibrant cobalt to bring out the other colors in the print, and added a simple necklace with some stacked rings for that gypsy flair.
This look is dressy enough to wear on a breezy summer dinner date, but also works for brunch with your friends. It’s a fairly simple outfit to put together—and the result is a super effortless trendy look!
