The ’70s is making a comeback as a trend inspiration for summer 2015. What I have seen from several of the spring and summer ready-to-wear collections is a combination of boho, ethnic and glam ’70s inspiration. What really stood out to me from this current season is frayed denim. Now I love the fact that designers are incorporating frayed denim in unique ways. For example, Marques’Almeida ready-to-wear summer 2015 collection showcases the unique use of frayed and ripped details throughout the collection.
Another interesting collection that I draw inspiration from is from the Ashish ready-to-wear collection. Although the Ashish Gupta collection is a lot more glamorous-inspired there is some ’70s boho inspiration. Personally I appreciate a great pair of denim jeans. Denim is comfortable, durable and can be worn multiple ways. My own denim jeans are Levi Brand Jeans.
I was inspired to create an outfit that was inspired by the ’70s boho inspiration trend and frayed denim. I decided to wear a western-style sheer blouse that has a distinctive floral print. My own preference when I wear prints is making sure the prints are small. The favorite part of my outfit is my boots. These boots are part of the Wolverine 1000 Mile Collection by Samantha Pleet and have a three-inch stacked heel that is easy to walk in.
My color palette is a little dark so I decided to add a pop of color by adding a mint green wristlet. I completed my look by rolling up my jeans for an added touch.
Get My Look: 1. Black, sheer floral blouse. 2. Frayed denim jeans. 3. Lace-up cognac boots. 4. Mint green wristlet. 5. Roll-up jeans.
