STYLE GURU STYLE: Freezing Faux

The neutral and dark colors all flowed together perfectly in the fall 2016 Pringle of Scotland menswear collection. The collection was full of grays, black and white with an accent of orange. The color scheme, warm coats and leather really inspired my go-to winter look.

Since it’s literally freezing outside in Chicago, that means there’s no choice but to layer up. I used to think that winter was the worst time for fashion. I thought I needed a puffy down coat, insulated gloves and a huge wool scarf. I just knew my carefully curated outfit wouldn’t even matter underneath the bulky coat I would have to wear to avoid frostbite. I’ve come to find that just because you need to bundle up, that doesn’t mean you can’t still be stylish!

Getting dressed in the dead of winter is not easy when the goal is to stay warm and look good. Since it’ll be super cold in the city until March, I love to wear my gray wool coat. It’s a neutral color so it’ll match well with any and all of my outfit combinations.

Next, I matched a warm olive colored thermal shirt with my favorite pair of pants. I love a high-waist bottom and these black American Apparel riding pants are no exception. They’re thick, stretchy and are a much more comfortable substitute to jeans.

To finish off this look, I added faux suede ankle booties and winter accessories. My accessories are equally cute and practical for the weather. I added a really warm fur infinity scarf and quilted leather gloves (both faux) that make this outfit complete and ready to endure the cold. This is pretty much my go-to look for any casual day in Chicago.

Get My Look: 1. Wool coat. 2. Comfortable riding pants. 3. A faux fur scarf. 4. Classic leather gloves.
