After the stress of midterms, I was absolutely thrilled to indulge in tropical weather over spring break! A week in Naples, Florida, was the perfect opportunity to bring out some of my favorite warm weather pieces.
Though spring is usually primetime for floral prints and pastel colors, I tend to prefer neutrals, particularly the color black. I find that monochrome looks, especially black on black, have a sleek and sophisticated element to them. Instead of adding interest through color, I like to change it up by adding fun textures.
This fringe kimono does exactly that! I love the way it creates movement and gives the outfit a boho-chic vibe. Though I never imagined my style as bohemian, I like to combine boho elements with more classic ones to maintain a polished look. In addition to my kimono, my structured tote has fringe tassels as well. I’ve been wearing this bag nonstop, because it is both stylish, and large enough to carry all the essentials. While all of this fringe might be a bit overboard, I find that pushing my style boundaries makes me feel extra confident and bold.
As a base for the outfit, I layered a rocker T-shirt over a black slip dress. I purchased this slip a couple of months ago, and love how versatile it is! To finish the look, I chose my go-to leather slides, gold watch, and vintage-inspired round sunglasses. I try to go minimal with accessories, so I love how this simple metallic detailing gives my outfits a finishing touch.
If I have learned one thing in my style journey, it is to wear clothing that makes me happy! Fashion can be so much fun when you dare to color outside of the lines, even if color isn’t your thing.
