The pre-fall 2015 runway show from Sonia Rykiel captivated me instantly, and it’s perfect for staying warm in the dropping temperatures. From oversized fur capes to floral prints, this collection is far from boring. I love the rustic and modern feel and the fact it has quirky designs that I have never seen before. A good amount of the pieces were bulky and textured, which draws a lot of attention. Rykiel features high-waisted flares and textured tights, which both elongate the legs. She uses belts around the natural waist to pull in the bulky pieces and to give the outfit shape. The collection has a dark color scheme and solid point of view, all while staying new and chic.
Rykiel’s pieces showcased an attitude that I can relate to. With the outfit I wore today, I definitely feel bold and unique. Rykiel’s boldness is probably too extreme for everyday wear, so I toned it down. I’m wearing the chunkiest sweater I own and tightest leggings to balance the look. This way, my legs are highlighted and slimmed. This style has the best of both worlds because it looks cool and also feels super comfortable.
The textures in the show inspired me to combine my own. The top of the sweater is rough and bumpy, while the bottom edge is soft and stretchy. The jewelry and leggings are smooth, and the nails are textured with dots. I love how the fabrics complement each other, and that the patterns are very different. I will definitely be on the look out for more textured, oversized pieces!
