As of late, gingham is making appearances on runways everywhere. From menswear to resort wear gingham has been there. Now, this isn’t your boring old ’90s gingham that you can find covering the Tanner’s couch in the background of Full House. It’s not even the basic picnic blanket gingham that you undoubtedly had in some form of button-down during your adolescence. This gingham is new, exciting and all grown up!
Bottega Veneta was amongst the many to show how gingham can be pretty in their spring 2015 ready-to-wear line. Out of the gingham pieces shown, the most striking was a yellow gingham dress with a matching cardigan. Even basic black and white gingham looks chic in overflowing, expensive fabrics shown in the line.
But these aren’t the only gingham runway looks that have caught my eye. Oscar de da Renta makes gingham look like silk in large printed, pastel pink and blue garments that inspired me to style my own pink, gingham ensemble.
I opted for neon pink gingham shorts because bright gingham in feminine silhouettes like these will forever change the way we talk about gingham. Because I wanted my gingham to be the focal point of my look, I kept everything else neutral and wore minimal jewelry. On-trend booties with a little heel are perfect for dressy shorts because they elongate the legs but are easy to run around on. So, pull yours out of the closet—they’re not just a winter shoes.
Get My Look: 1. Neon, gingham shorts. 2. Any simple, neutral blouse. 3. Trendy cutout booties.
