For this post, I’m going to throw it back a few years. I’m taking you back to New York Fashion Week when designers were showing their spring 2013 collections. For that entire week, designers were showing their clothes and many of them had one common factor: lace. Dolce & Gabbana created a full lace gown. Oscar de la Renta added lace to the bottom of many garments such as blazers and pants.
I was super inspired by Luisa Beccaria. Her spring 2013 ready-to-wear collection was fun and free. The garments were loose-fitting and definitely had a spanish flare. From the head wraps to the model carrying a basket of flowers on her head, this collection fully deserved the association with the song “The Girl From Ipanema” it received.
When I saw this collection, I knew exactly how I wanted to recreate it. I wanted to keep some of the same elements, but at the same time update and modify it to fit my own personal style. I chose to wear off-white lace, tiered shorts to try to imitate the designer’s tiered lace maxi skirts. My favorite parts of this collection did not just include lace. The fuchsia color the designer chose to accent in the line was brilliant against the white. I also loved the crop tops and off-the-shoulder shirts that were incorporated. For this reason, I paired my lace shorts with a fuchsia off-the-shoulder crop top. Since it’s summer, I added aviator sunglasses and gladiator sandals. Now I’m ready for some fun in the sun!
