STYLE GURU STYLE: Give Me Gingham

Spring 2015 is the season for gingham. Gingham is making a huge comeback in clothing, and this seasonโ€™s runway is riddled with the infamous picnic blanket pattern. The runway spring 2015 show for Bottega Veneta showed multiple looks with the print, my favorite being a casual, slouchy orange gingham dress. While most of this seasonโ€™s runway shows seem to focus on gingham dresses, Iโ€™ve had my eye on a pair of pants with the pattern for a long time. After finally finding a pair at ASOS, I joined the gingham gang and I see myself staying here for a long time.

Being five feet, two inches, but absolutely desperate for gingham pants resulted in purchasing some from the tall section of ASOS. With a little rolling and repositioning here and there, I feel like Iโ€™m actually able to hide the fact that theyโ€™re many inches too long, and I really like the look. The brown and black combination of my sweaters is often looked upon as a faux pas, but Iโ€™m a fan of the camel color with the fuzzy black sweater. I added a long sleeve turtleneck underneath for another layer of warmth, since the temperatures began to drop again.

I spent the last week in New Orleans, Louisiana, for Mardi Gras, and my black flatform sneakers were perfectly comfortable for exploring the city. My Mardi Gras beads were a slightly festive touch for my outfit, and I also thought the colors went nicely with my look.

Gingham pants might seem a bit difficult to style, but with neutral tops and fun textures theyโ€™re simple to wear. Theyโ€™re also easy to dress up with some platform booties or heeled sandals.

Get My Look: 1. Gingham leggings. 2. A neutral-colored sweater. 3. Black platform sneakers.
