STYLE GURU STYLE: Going Gaga for Ford

This past spring 2016 fashion week, Tom Ford revolutionized the idea of a runway show by creating a music video for his runway show. The video features lots of layered and textured looks along with some fabulous mini dresses. Ford uses a variety of hem lengths, fabrics and a mix of neutrals and bold colored pieces that adds to the unique experience you get while watching the video. Did I mention Lady Gaga also models and sings in the video? Can it possibly get any better?

For this look I wanted to keep the same aspects of Ford’s spring/summer line but add my own personal flare. I loved all the mini dresses layered with a jacket that the models and Gaga wore throughout the show and I’ve noticed they’ve become a big trend. So, I wore a turtleneck, long sleeve trapeze dress. Instead of a leather jacket or blazer like the models wore I decided to play up some of the texture aspects and the idea of sheer materials that Ford used. Over the dress I wore a loose knitted black and grey duster, this played up the texture and length aspect.

To keep my look a little more school or work appropriate I threw some black tights to keep attention on the look and not my tights. This look would also be cute with knee high socks or no tights for a night out. Towards the end of Ford’s music video we see a lot of textured colorful looks, so for my interpretation I brought color in with a blue and gold chain statement necklace. I kept the rest of my accessories very plain and minimal with my rose gold watch and Lokai bracelet. For shoes I also kept them minimal since the shoes in the video were very plain and simple so I just stuck with some tan faux suede booties to still play with the texture that we see throughout the line.

Get My Look: 1. Mock turtleneck long sleeve mini dress. 2. Bold color statement necklace. 3. Textured knit duster, 4. Tan faux suede booties. 5. Black tights.
