Since my recent rekindled obsession of Gossip Girl, I have done a lot of reading and studying of New York fashion. Considering the unhealthy amount of hours I’ve spent watching the entire series on Netflix, I found a lot of things they wore then, we’re doing our best to bring back now. For example, Blair Waldorf had her share of short capes that stopped at the elbow, but personally I gravitated towards Serena van der Woodsen’s edgy side in season 2. Not to mention, her name was just as cool as her style. alice + olivia is a New York based company whose repertoire is right up Gossip Girl’s alley, and its pre-fall 2015 line was just the inspiration I was looking for.The collection seemed to be the perfect mix between classic and bohemian. For starters, duster coats are known for their classic look. This outfit is made up of pure simplicity.
Stripes are my favorite pattern, and they’re the best when adding a little movement in your outfit. I tucked my long sleeve shirt into these colored trousers from Banana Republic. Since they were long, I decided to add these cool combat boots. The strings look like they belong of the steel toe boots of a lumberjack. This duster is my new favorite coat for this season. Not only does it make me look like I belong in Mad Men, but it makes anything look instantly more stylish. I like leaving coats open, so that the wind catches it and makes the perfect picture. alice + olivia nailed the pre-fall 2015 collection, and it’ll be rad mimicking more of their looks this semester.
