STYLE GURU STYLE: Hats Off To Crochet!

Inspired by Trina Turk’s spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection, I decided to wear an outfit that sort of represented the ’70 s but took a polished twist to it. Trina Turks collection contained an array of looks, such as crochet dresses and tops, floppy hats and different patterned pants. Crochet is especially great for any season, whether it is a cover up for the beach or a scarf to help keep warm in the winter!

Although I loved all of the bright fun colors featured in her collection, I still feel very wintery so decided to keep most of my outfit black and do one pop of color for my top. The salmon colored top’s billowy fit gives the look a ’70s vibe. The crochet detailing at the top adds fun detail. I personally love tops like these as they are great for any season! They could be worn with cut-offs and pretty embezzled sandals in the summer or with riding boots for a more casual and cozy look. For my wardrobe, black or nude suede pumps are an absolute must and chose to stick with the black suede to keep the focus on my top.

I decided to keep my jewelry very minimal and stuck with the pieces I wear everyday from James Avery. They actually released some new initial rings and they are so adorable! I tried to keep the jewelry as dainty as possible, as I did not want to distract from the top too much.

Trina Turk’s collection featured quite a bit of floppy hats. They really help dress up an outfit, so I decided to try one for the first time and I fell in love! Just as I did with the heels, I stuck with black to keep the top the main focus of the look. It made my outfit seem that much fancier and they’re so ideal for bad hair days. Bad hair days are unfortunately pretty common here in the south, considering the fluctuating weather.

Tina Turk also featured some nude colored bags in her collection which I think help keep the focus on the bright colors she was incorporating. Personally, cross-body bags are the only bags I use because they are so easy to keep up with. Mine is from Rebecca Minkoff. The light warm gray color of the bag is perfect for this look, as it does not take away from the top. I thought a black bag may have been a bit too much even though I am a firm believer that you can never have too much black.

This look would be absolutely perfect for Valentine’s Day! The crochet and salmon pink color help give it a romantic touch, while keeping the rest of the look polished with mostly black.
