STYLE GURU STYLE: Holey Moley

It’s no secret that high waisted jean shorts have dominated the summer denim scene once again for nearly a decade now. The 2010s will be characterized by the fashion forward youth mixing thrifted finds with quality basics and small elegant touches. While nearly every girl in our generation has made cut-offs with some old “mom jeans,” it hasn’t been as popular to use the length of these jeans for a truly unique style.

Since I can remember, I have been pushing the envelope with my style. Reading Swedish fashion blogs and Teen Vogue since elementary school has had a lifelong impact on my outfit choices and has really helped me come into my own when it comes to personal taste in fashion. After reviewing the fall 2015 runways, one thing is very clear: the ’90s are alive and well, my friends. Opening Ceremony’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection loosely inspired my look with its basic and sleek yet simultaneously thrown together silhouettes and styles.

This outfit mixes three basic elements of our generation’s quintessential style: thrifted and personalized denim, a high quality basic button up crop top and tiny metal and leather details. I found these vintage Calvin Klein jeans at a thrift store and decided to distress them and make them into your mom’s boyfriend jean rather than short cut-offs. Combined with an American Apparel T-shirt and classic Converse sneakers, this ensemble becomes instantly ’90s. By mixing the silver and gold metals of my bag and my jewelry, I added a modern touch that brought this outfit into this century.

Get My Look: 1. Self-made distressed denim. 2. A basic crop T-shirt. 3. Classic black Converse.
