This summer more and more Fashionistas are relying on a new favorite piece for special events or nights out on the town. Instead of the classic little black dress, these fashion-forward girls are taking a cue from what they see on the runway from labels like Balmain and are beginning to favor the jumpsuit trend. The 2015 spring ready-to-wear runway show by Balmain featured many sleek silhouettes, but the jumpsuits were definite showstoppers in the line-up. The particular piece that I am especially drawn to from the show recently made headlines when Taylor Swift wore it when performing at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards last month.
The look featured here is a more embellished take than the minimal glam Balmain jumpsuit, but it still draws strong inspiration from the ideas that it presents. There are cutouts that allow for the skin to act as a block of color, the waist is defined and a fairly open back shows off a little more skin. This particular jumpsuit, designed and crafted by yours truly, features a gathered bodice with major amounts of beading at the neckline and waist for a decadent touch. Instead of sticking with a basic solid color, the piece here offers a more interesting visual display with an intricate print on a richly colored background that is sure to catch the eyes of others.
In addition to the jumpsuit, this look is fleshed out with a black statement heel that mimics the cutouts on the bodice and gives the look a more sporty style with a lace-up back. The major amount of beading on the jumpsuit acts as jewelry itself, so not much else is needed. For this reason I decided to add fairly simple black earrings to complete the look.
Get My Look: 1. A fierce jumpsuit. 2. A pair of killer heels. 3. Earrings to top it all off.
