One of the biggest things that I already dearly miss about the summer is festival fashion. I love scouting trends from music festivals like Coachella and Lollapalooza. The clothes worn there are so fun and experimental since nobody at festivals is negatively judging what others are wearing, but instead, they embrace the fact that everyone has their own style and they can rock it out. The playful, bouncing, flowing fabrics and funky details are key parts of festival fashion, and for me, there is one piece in my head that stands out for embodying this vibe—the kimono! I do not have the heart to put away my festival favorite for months on end, so I’m transitioning it into fall.
To create my look, I took my absolute favorite kimono from Aritzia. With a style that can often be described as boho meets edgy, this piece definitely fits that aesthetic with the darker color scheme. Complete with an intricate print and chic free-flowing fringe, this piece makes a strong statement and is a guaranteed head-turner. Instead of my crop top and high-waisted shorts, I opted for this figure skater-inspired dress with a sweetheart neckline, which is also from Aritzia. I chose this sweet flirty dress since it was fairly nice outside, but the kimono can also be paired with a long sleeve shirt underneath and some skinnies when it gets chillier.
As for accessories, I went with my go-to favorites that never let me down. My booties are from Michael Kors and if you ask me, they are the perfect fall booties. They are made with a beautiful taupe suede material and have a heel that is just over an inch, making them easy to walk in. This color adds a little more of a pop to my outfit as opposed to my black booties. My cross-body bag is from Rebecca Minkoff and I love how the soft pink is working against the darker colors in this outfit. Plus, the bag also has fringe detailing!! I also had to wear my Alex and Ani bracelet since I rarely leave the house without it. The compass symbol is a great reminder of how life’s direction might seem unclear, but that’s okay as long as you remain focused and dedicated. I love when clothing pieces or accessories have positive associations like this!
Even as I am forced to bring out my winter coats and snow boots, I plan to keep the free spirit of summer all year round. Good vibes only, Fashionistas/os!
