Coco Chanel once said, “A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.” When I came across Escada’s spring 2014 ready-to-wear collection, the pieces took my breath away, and I immediately fell in love with the chic, classy and elegant designs. The collection definitely created a sense of escapism which creative director, Daniel Wingate, was going for in this runway show. He was shooting for bold vibrant colors and prints in this collection and did an excellent job in creating these modern, chic pieces with each look being well thought out and put together fabulously. The outfits in Escada’s spring collection reminded of the clothing the women from Sex and The City would wear in the show. I could imagine Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte strutting down the streets of Manhattan rocking some of these outfits.
I love how the pieces in the collection are close-fitting, showing off the shape of your body. The material looks cool, comfortable, modest and sexy with its refreshing colors. Everything looks very fashionable, mature and dressy, from the one shouldered caftan dresses and strapless evening gowns to the embellished cocktail sheath dresses. The blown up florals, wild zebra stripes and giraffe spots caught my attention and are spot-on with the spring and summer season.
Taking inspiration from Escada’s 2014 ready-to-wear collection, I transformed a royal blue and gold ensemble with my own style. The model is seen wearing a royal blue cocktail sheath dress and gold accessories. She has on a nude lipstick and has her hair styled with loose waves. Royal blue is one of my favorite hues because it makes a statement and any outfit pop. It flatters all skin tones and looks great combined with every single color: red, nude, white, camel brown, gold, silver and neons. This color gives a lot of effect so you can look casual by daytime and elegant in a cocktail dress for the evening.
I translated Escada’s look into my own style by wearing a royal blue cocktail sheath dress that I found similar to the piece in the collection. I have on mauve lips, nude heels and styled my hair with loose waves. I’m also wearing similar smoky eye makeup as the model, and I opted for silver jewelry: the simple bar necklace, watch and bracelet. It’s classy and fabulous!
