When it comes to personal style, I am usually someone who goes for colorful pieces. I think it has something to do with my personality or so I’m told. Even when I go shopping, the most colorful pieces are the ones that catch my eye. Be that as it may, I decided to try something new for a change as part of my summer philosophy, “The bolder, the better.” After all, part of learning about other fashion trends and even growing as a person is by trying new things. You never know what treasures you might find.
BCBGMAXAZRIA’s resort 2015 collection is what inspired me to put together this outfit. BCBGMAXAZRIA is one of my all time favorite designers because of his classy and chic style. His 2015 line featured a lot of white, loose pieces that are perfect for the summer season. However, the trend that inspired me the most from his collection was the use of maxi dresses, long skirts and blouses, specifically the white colored ones.
With the extremely warm temperatures in Puerto Rico, summer typically calls for shorts and short sleeve tops. Nevertheless, I decided to style a long vest kimono, a tank top, high-waisted shorts and black platform sandals. To accessorize, I opted for gold bangles and a pair of white sunglasses.
The white-on-white trend is one that has recently become quite popular and for someone who generally prefers colorful pieces, I’m loving it. I have to admit that it felt strange at first to not wear anything of color, but when I looked at the finished product, I knew I had made the right choice. As I was putting together the ensemble, I came up with an idea. I decided to mix the white-on-white trend with one of my favorite styles, which is boho-chic. As you can see, the long vest kimono perfectly added that boho vibe to the outfit. Mixing new and old styles was my way of making the outfit my own. Yet, the white-on-white trend is one that I will definitely use in the future.
