Chloé‘s 2015 pre-fall show is an exemplary example of creating a contemporary twist on classic 1970s styles. The collection features high-waisted pants, a variety of floral patterns and my favorite—over-the-knee leather boots. The clothes stay within a pretty strict color palette of maroons, mustard yellow, dark blues and creams. I love how the collection plays with a wide variety of fabrics and patterns, but also does a great job recreating ’70s looks with more modern silhouettes.
Today I wore a black button-up with an A-line skirt under my cocoon jacket. I decided to wear a skirt to draw attention to my leather boots. Similar to the Chloé show, I wanted to keep my color palette limited to only blues and blacks. The boots are a combination of cloth and snakeskin fabric, which really mimics the idea of using multiple fabrics and textures as seen in the show. I really like this outfit because it’s simple, but its a little fun because of the snakeskin pattern and the design of the over-the-knee boots.
This collection inspired me to take a risk and try the new, growing trend with these extra tall boots. I put my on spin on it by using mainly dark colors and a snakeskin pattern that I prefer, instead of using the various floral and striped prints seen in the collection. Overall, I would say that this experiment really made me fall in love with these boots. I really want to try some that are slouchier and relaxed so I can pair them with leggings and jeans!
