Fall weather is fast approaching and that can only mean one thing—time to break out the boots and autumn colored items. One of my favorite accessories to pair with any outfit are a pair of black ankle boots. They go with pretty much any fashion item, and are both extremely comfortable and versatile.
Along with booties, fall colors are extremely popular around this time of year when discussing many fashion pieces. In Alexander McQueen’s fall 2015 line, you’ll notice how frequently various fabrics of beige, black, burgundy and red appear (not to mention his love of lace). It’s almost as though this line purposefully mimics the colors of the changing leaves, creating an ombré of hues throughout his collection to match the transition of summer into fall and fall into winter.
With much darker pieces, McQueen balances the harsher tones with feminine pops of lace throughout his shirts, dresses, purses and even shoes. Lace has always been one of my favorite style elements and remains a staple throughout my college career. In this outfit, I am wearing a lace beige peplum top from Express, a pair of jeans from American Eagle Outfitters and black boots from Target. I work in a classroom and in an office, so this outfit gives me a professional look that is also comfortable and easy-going.
Like McQueen, I love pairing harsher pieces, like my dark boots, with girly pieces, such as my top. Furthermore, I decided to add some of my favorite rings to give my outfit a little more of an edge and an insight into my personality.
As the days get colder, I’ll continue to wear pieces that incorporate lace, boots and fall colors in some way, but I’m also looking forward to seeing how their appearance will change throughout campus and how others will choose to wear these items as well.
