A quiet, and very cold, Friday afternoon was perfect to grab a cup of tea and relax in my couch to finally catch up with the spring fashion shows. Of course, this left me dreaming of a weekend getaway with warm weather and sunny days away from the city, since February has been the crazy weather month in Mexico City. There hasn’t really been room for transitional dressing, either you are super cold or super hot and you never really know what to wear every morning.
Spring dressing is about feeling fresh and flowy. You don’t want to give much thought to what you are wearing. It is all about having the perfect pieces in order to just grab the first thing you see in your closet in the morning, throw on some accessories and your everyday jewelry, to make the look yours, and be ready in five minutes. Isabel Marant’s spring 2016 collection feels like this. It is as easy and bohemian as it is stylish and chic.
The collection has something for every taste: from embroidered tops and capes to wrap skirts, harem pants, culottes and even leggings. The color palette is mainly black and white, with vibrant accents of yellow, orange, red and purple and metallic gold and silver. The whole thing is like the perfect Moroccan dream mixed with the right amount of French coolness. With that being said, my favorite part was the shoes: black and red strappy and lace up sandals to make every look spring-approved
Valentine’s weekend provided the perfect opportunity for me to get out of the city and spend a few days in a warmer destination. Inspired by the collection, I wore this outfit the Monday after Valentine’s Day. I anchored my look with a pair of handmade black, lace up sandals that I got at a market in a small Mexican town and a white Zara romper. To complete the outfit, I added a bandana and my silver jewelry.
Let your inner bohemian French girl out and lace up this coming spring!
