After watching the Dior pre-fall 2015 runway show, I was reminded of how fun playing with leather can really be. The show featured the fierce material throughout the majority of their looks, but not in commonly worn hues. Leather made its debut in Dior through primary colors, but models wore coats, boots, dresses and handbags in colors anywhere from oxblood to green. I loved how the show balanced out such edgy pieces with delicate milkmaid braids and sequins. The collaboration displayed the radiance of a feminine woman who is still dressed in a strong manner that makes her ready to take on the world and look good while doing so.
I decided to adopt the bold leather look myself, while balancing it with more feminine pieces like the show did. For the centerpiece of my outfit, I opted for an oxblood leather circle skirt. The high rise of the skirt accentuates my waist since I tucked in my graphic black sweater. I love how the detail of this sweater is a word instead of an image. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but I believe one word can put a thousand pictures to shame. To give the outfit a more feminine touch, I paired my skirt with some black tights and black heels. The heels soften up the leather skirt and the tights elongate my legs. To top off the ensemble, I am carrying my favorite Burberry bag. The entire outfit makes for a fun and flirty look.
The pre-fall show has me excited to add pops of color to my wardrobe. Why not achieve this with leather? A girl can never have too much of a timeless fabric.
Get My Look: 1. Statement leather. 2. A little bit of a “wordy” sweater. 3. Fashionable and functional black heels.
