As the saying goes, it’s “summertime and the livin’ is easy.” Hopefully this is true for most everyone in the summer months, but even if it is not, you can still dress like it is. This means carefree and relaxed. One of my favorite things about summer is that there are so many opportunities to have a super laid back, casual style. One collection that I have been inspired by this season is the Edun resort 2016 collection. The designer plays with mixed patterns, a few pops of color and bold shoes in a way that gives off a cool, unfussy vibe.
The collection has a few pieces that mix plaid with animal print and uneven stripes. It can be tricky to mix different patterns, so I chose to keep it simple by playing with the stripes in my dress and leopard print shoes. Both of the pieces are summery on their own, and together they give off a relaxed feel. A detail that further gives off the relaxed vibe is the shirt tied around my waist, another trend featured in the Edun collection. I love this because it actually makes the outfit more comfortable; also, it is practical because having an extra layer is always a good idea in Wisconsin.
The collection as a whole is sporty, so this is where my baseball hat comes in. Hats of all kinds are perfect for summer days, and a baseball hat in particular is perfect for all leisurely summer activities. While I didn’t sport much color in my outfit, I did wear bright pink lipstick; it provides a fun, girly touch to complete the sporty-chic look.
