Worn by style icons like Kendall Jenner and Rihanna, Balmain is all the rage these days. Olivier Rousteing has stepped out onto the scene as a fashion genius, and his Balmain resort 2014 collection is one of my personal favorites of all time. The masculine style behind his fun checker prints, flared skirts and leather caught my eye and made me fall in love with his designs. Whether it be going out for a night and throwing on a leather jacket to spice up an outfit or simply pairing it with an everyday outfit to dress it up, leather has been one thing that has never really gone out of style.
Being completely intrigued by the style of his designs, I decided to put together an outfit that gave off that Balmain leather vibe while keeping it sophisticated and simple. I paired a cool leather jacket with a neutral gray shirt because Rousteing keeps his resort 2014 collection on a neutral color palette. Keeping with the leather theme, I also incorporated a leather skirt that just peeks out from the long gray top, all overlaying a pair of black tights and gray Juicy Couture booties.
Sometimes leather can be overpowering, which is why I have always shied away from incorporating this trend a lot in the past. However, since stepping out of my comfort zone and imitating the amazing looks I saw in this Balmain 2014 collection, I have come to realize that leather doesn’t have to be overpowering, but can be simply a statement. I will most definitely be stepping out in leather looks more often.
