With school ending and winter break starting, you would think our lives would slow down, but they don’t. This season is all about the after-hours planning and partying that makes winter session a time we look forward to all year. It’s hard to figure out fresh outfits for those many and various occasions we attend in only a one month or less time frame, but there is a way to make it work without breaking your college budget.
While watching the Tom Ford fall 2015 ready-to-wear runway show I noticed one specific thing, many of the outfits had one staple item that was continuous throughout the whole show. Until I analyzed the collection, I had thought all the clothes were different, and this made me think. If Tom Ford can have one consistent piece going through the show, then I can have one piece that I rotate through my outfits.
The one piece that I have taken as my outfit staple is a leather skirt. Leather skirts didn’t come back into the fashion scene until recently. When my mom found out I bought a leather skirt she was concerned I had turned into a streetwalker. Little did she know, designers like Alexander Wang, Victoria Beckham and Alexander McQueen have all brought the leather skirt into their new collections.
Leather skirts can be versatile. They change with whatever you pair them with. That’s why they make such a great going out piece. You can pair it with a white blouse for a more sophisticated look or a crop top for a fun party statement.
