Dress it up, dress it down, night or day, a leather jacket is one of the most essential pieces in anyone’s wardrobe.
Lucky for me, I spent last semester in Florence, Italy and finally worked up the courage to stop by the leather market to buy a real one. There was a special place in my savings account for my jacket and at one point, it finally burst and was empty. Who knew it would take over two hours to find the perfect jacket.
By the time I got the jacket it was nearly April and I was done wearing coats after a long winter—so here it is, I finally get to spend a whole season with my precious addition to any great outfit.
This outfit was weekend wear for me but it could easily be transformed into an outfit for school, one to run errands in or even go to lunch or a casual dinner.
Paired with the leather jacket, I have on a graphic T-shirt that says “Paris, Milan, New York, London” and it is one of the best pieces in my wardrobe—it goes with everything and it is a nice material so it can be dressed up easily. With the T-shirt, I have a black statement necklace that pops with the black lettering on my gray shirt. I have on dark wash jeans that easily translate into a nighttime vibe and my black Rubin Steve Madden booties. This is my second pair of Rubin booties because I wear them so much that I wore out the first pair—I was so glad to see them still available.
I love outfits like this one because it can easily go from day to night: switch out the gray graphic T-shirt for a black or maroon blouse, switch out the Rubin booties for booties with a heal, put the hair up into a low bun and you have yourself a completed look for a night out.
Sometimes the best outfits are a combination of your favorite pieces from your closet all made into one ensemble—that is what I did here and I am awaiting a time I can wear this outfit again.
In the words of Coco Chanel, “Fashion changes, but style endures.” Leather jackets endure too, in my book at least.
