I don’t know about you, but for me, leather is a year-round staple piece in my closet. It doesn’t matter what season it is or how hot or cold it is, I always grab the opportunity to sport leather. There’s just something about the feeling you get from standing out and feeling bad to the bone (which makes you that much more confident). And don’t get me started about all-black attire in all four seasons. Alexander McQueen’s pre-fall 2015 resort collection combined both of my favorite trends (all-black and leather), and I’ve been quite obsessed with it lately. I don’t know what I love most: the layering, girly-meets-grunge or the boldness of every look. Either way, look 13 inspired me most.
While I love incorporating all-black and leather, with this heat wave going on, I am feeling excited about the arrival of fall and wearing leather/black in cooler weather rather than the heat. But you know what they say, beauty is pain (or a heatstroke). Using my inspiration from aforementioned collection, I interpreted the trend by making my outfit casual enough for the daytime. I’ve had my eye on this dress and I finally built up the confidence and enough body peace to treat myself (Parks and Recreation anyone?). Once the sun sets, I can easily dress up this look by swapping out the sneakers for a fabulous pair of heels, adding gold eyeshadow, ditching the hat and swapping out the kate spade bag for a clutch. This outfit was a perfect way to wear a leather dress during the day without being “too overdressed.”
Get My Look: 1. Any leather dress. 2. Comfortable sneakers. 3. Any floppy black hat.
