You know that old saying about something really dope being “the cat’s pajamas”? This look is just like that, except this cat decided it didn’t want to hop into pajamas to call it a night at 6:30 p.m. and be a total buzzkill. This, rather, is the alley cat who you don’t know if you should trust, and it looks at you in that mysteriously beckoning way which makes you want to pet it, but at the same time, you probably wouldn’t bring it home to your mother. At least that’s how I imagine a leopard to be in the feline dimension–except replace the alley with a grassland.
The point I’m trying to make is, nobody is happier about the fall season approaching than me. I’ve been getting confused looks from passerbys for repping fleece in 90 degree heat for way too long, and I’m so happy that now those looks will only be because I’m wearing leopard print fleece. But that’s the beauty of these pants; they have enough panache to give your average American citizen the second, up-down glance look. They have a vintage FUBU-esque vibe to them that gives them the street cred  they needs to give your average youth/millennial/hypebeast/Instagram model the second, up-down glance look. This is basically just confirming that you have their attention even if just for a second. I love the plastic panel on the left leg of the pants, so naturally I also own the plain black version of these pants. You can cop the killer fleece leopard print pants from downtown NYC haven VFiles.
I’m a huge believer in basics not only because they go with just about everything, but because if you’re in a hurry and don’t know what to wear, you can throw some basics together and make an outfit that at least somewhat makes sense because, you know, they go with just about everything. I’m wearing a basic black shirt, as you can see from the front. But from the back, my shirt spells out “FOLLOW ME” (hint, hint) with a trend that I have been obsessed with lately: the gothic font. If you’ve been to a concert lately, you might’ve noticed that gothic lettering on clothes is a pretty big deal right now (I’m looking at you, Kanye, Rihanna and Justin Bieber). It’s a streetwear staple that’s even graced the collections of high-end designer collections like Vetements. It’s trendy, and if done right, amps up the attitude of an outfit without being corny.
Moving toward the ground, I’m wearing a pair of shoes from NYC-based label Hood by Air, which I managed to score at a really great price (shoutout to sample sales). These shoes feature a velvet exterior, a leather panel and shoelaces laced up through eyelets running up the shoe.
