I’m a shoe addict. Guilty as charged. I’m obsessed with shoes to the point where there’s literally no more space for them in my room and to the point where during an actual fire in the dorms, the first thing that I blurted out to my roommate when the fire alarm started going off was “What shoes should I wear?” Would you like me to reiterate that? While everyone was running out, I, Paula Volos, actually spent time contemplating what shoes to wear to evacuate a building that was on fire.
Now, what I’m trying to say here isn’t that I am clearly 110 percent incapable of taking proper care of my own life, but that I love shoes way too much. I can never say no to a new pair of shoes or to trying out new shoe trends. Shoe stores are my heaven and any pair of shoes that stands out to me and grabs my attention, I have to have. Doesn’t get any simpler than that.
The fall 2014 fashion shows brought upon the fashion world an abundance of new shoe trends that I was going crazy over. My favorite? The leopard print ankle bootie trend. Models at the Peter Som fall 2014 ready-to-wear fashion show walked down the runway in stunning leopard jackets, dresses, skirts and ankle booties. The way I see it, no one made leopard work as well as Peter Som did at the time. The collection had some excellent leopard print pieces that stood out and made it more luxurious, feminine and glamorous. Perfect doesn’t even begin to describe it. However, going back to my main point, I was personally all about the shoes. How could I not own such an amazing pair of shoes? The second I saw them, I fell in love with their unique edginess and was determined to be on the hunt for the perfect pair that I’d make my own for as long as I had to be.
Eventually I found it and to be honest, right now it’s actually kind of a huge problem because I never seem to take them off. For this look I decided to let my booties do the talking. I simply wore a pair of skinny black jeans and a plain loose black top that didn’t retract any attention from the shoes. Over the shirt I threw on a structured jacket with leather details and gold accents that only made the shoes’ print more prominent. As for my accessories, I kept them minimal by merely wearing a leather wrap bracelet and a few rings. Simple, but very stylish, chic and unique.
Leopard booties are all outfits need to make them stand out. You simply can’t go wrong with them and this is probably the reason why I’m so obsessed with them. If you don’t own a pair, please go out and buy one. Trust me, you’ll thank me for it eventually.
